The earth won't shake as a result of this development, and for that matter, even the ERP industry isn't exactly getting turned on its head. Still, TOTVS and Datasul have combined, and together, they represent the world's ninth largest ERP software company.
This position comes with some kind of impressive bragging rights. "Consequent to the merger, the new TOTVS will have more than 21,000 clients, 270 distribution channels and 9,000 employees, including franchises," according to a press release.
Also, "In the 12 months ended March 2008, TOTVS and Datasul together posted pro-forma unaudited gross revenues of R$ 778 million and EBITDA of R$ 155 million, with EBITDA margin of more than 22%. The merger, while strengthening their operations in Brazil, increases their capability to serve the foreign markets since TOTVS and Datasul operations will be complementary in more than 18 countries."
The new TOTVS is indeed positioned well to meet a lot of new ERP demand. Even if it doesn't try to take over American markets, U.S. companies are liable to bump it into it when they head overseas.
For at least a couple of months, though, we expect TOTVS will be busy trying to smoothly integrate all its various operations and employees.
